Bacon, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Casserole

December 17, 2020

I love everything about this breakfast casserole! I love how easy it is to make! I love that I can make it a day before baking! If you are looking for a breakfast casserole that you can just wake up and pop in the oven, then this recipe is for you!

This Bacon, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Casserole is absolutely perfect for Christmas morning. I grew up eating this breakfast casserole every Christmas and Thanksgiving! It is a holiday tradition! My mom added sausage to hers but my boys love bacon so I doubled up the bacon in this family recipe. Afterall, isn't everything better with more bacon? Try this casserole for your Christmas breakfast! It couldn't be easier!

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients:

1 loaf white bread, diced into cubes

2 packs of bacon, diced into small pieces

8 eggs, beaten

2 cups milk

2 tsp Dijon mustard

2 tbsp Worchestershire sauce

Kosher salt and pepper to taste

1 (8 oz) package of sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (about 2 cups)

  1. Spray a 9 x 13 inch casserole pan with cooking spray.

  2. Cook the diced bacon in a skillet until it is nice and crispy. Place cooked bacon on a paper towel lined plate and set aside.

  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, Worchestershire sauce salt and pepper in a bowl.

  4. Take half of your bread cubes and make a single layer into your prepared casserole dish.

  5. Add a layer of half of your bacon on top of the bread.

  6. Take 1 cup of the cheese and sprinkle over the bacon and bread cubes.

  7. Repeat those steps again by adding a second layer of bread, bacon and cheese. Using the remainder.

  8. Pour or ladle the egg mixture over top of the casserole. Making sure that it is coated evenly.

  9. Cover the casserole with foil and chill in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours prior to baking.

  10. When you are ready to serve, bake at 350 degrees for about 45 to 55 minutes, until it is puffy and nice and golden. Serve hot.

I love holiday traditions that get passed down from generation to generation! Just look at that crispy bacon and melted cheese. This breakfast casserole is one of my most favorite breakfasts ever! And it is a breeze to make! You will love it too!
