Buffalo Shrimp

August 3, 2020

I almost never by fresh shrimp. I find it to be so much cheaper to buy frozen shrimp. I can always find a good sale on frozen shrimp at my market. And when I do, I load up our freezer. I love how quickly frozen shrimp defrosts and I especially love how quickly shrimp cooks. Always a quick and easy meal!

I decided to defrost some shrimp for tonight. My family absolutely loves anything and everything with Buffalo Sauce on it! And this Buffalo Shrimp recipe is one of our favorites! There are so many ways to serve Buffalo Shrimp. They make a great appetizer. They are great on a hoagie roll, in a wrap or over a salad! And are amazing on their own!

Buffalo Shrimp

Sauce Ingredients:

1 cup red hot sauce

1/4 tsp garlic powder

2 tbsp butter

Buffalo Shrimp Ingredients:

2 lbs shrimp, peeled, deveined and tails taken off

Salt and pepper to taste

3 eggs

1/3 to 1/2 cup of cornmeal, depending on your preference

1 cup flour

Butter

Olive oil

  1. Place the shrimp on a paper towel lined sheet pan and pat dry.

  2. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper on both sides.

  3. Whisk the eggs in a shallow pie dish.

  4. Combine the cornmeal and flour in a large Ziploc bag.

  5. Take 6 shrimp at a time and dip them in the egg and then shake in the flour and cornmeal filled bag.

  6. Take them out if the bag and put the shrimp onto a sheet pan. Repeat until all of the shrimp are battered.

  7. Heat equal parts of butter and oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  8. In batches, cook the shrimp for 2 minutes on one side. Then flip and cook for one additional minute on the other side. Remove and put the cooked shrimp onto a sheet pan.

  9. Keep the shrimp warm in a 200 degree oven until all of the shrimp is cooked.

  10. Now it is time to make the buffalo sauce...melt the butter in a saucepan and add the hot sauce and garlic powder.

  11. Stir the sauce and add the cooked shrimp into the pan.

  12. Toss until all shrimp is covered in the yummy sauce and serve warm.

We love Buffalo Shrimp! And there are so many ways to serve them! I love it on salad or in a wrap with blue cheese dressing! Yum! A perfect party appetizer too!
