Cheddar Cheese Fondue

December 13, 2023

Yes, I am a child from the 70's and I love everything about fondue!! What is not to love about dipping food in delicious melted cheese? I am a cheese-aholic and fondue is one of my most favorite foods.

Every Christmas Eve, we set our kitchen island and make cheese fondue for dinner. I love sitting around the island together, talking and picking out our colored fondue pick - while we dip crusty bread, broccoli, kielbasa and apples into the delicious melted cheese fondue. There is nothing better!

I love a slow and social meal like fondue! Especially on a special night like Christmas Eve!

Cheddar Cheese Fondue

Ingredients:

8 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

5 oz. white wine

1 to 2 cloves of garlic, minced (we do 2)

Fresh cracked pepper to taste

Pinch of mustard powder

6 or 7 shakes of Worchestershire sauce

  1. Pour the wine into your fondue pot.

  2. When the wine begins to simmer, add the garlic to the fondue pot.

  3. Allow it to cook for a few minutes, until you can smell the garlic and the wine begins to reduce.

  4. Slowly add your cheddar cheese, while whisking.

  5. Once all of your cheese is added, season your fondue with pepper, mustard powder and Worchestershire sauce. Continue to whisk frequently.

  6. When the cheese fondue has thickened, start dipping away. You will have to occasionally whisk the sauce as you go, so keep the whisk handy.

Just look at this delicious warm, gooey cheese!!!

Bring your white wine to a simmer and add the minced garlic...

Slowly add your cheese...

Add Worchestershire sauce, mustard powder and pepper and whisk away. Keep whisking until your fondue is nice and smooth...

Now it's time for my favorite part...it's time to dip and eat!

Just look at this cheesy goodness!

Honestly, is there anything better than cheese fondue?! Put a fondue pot on your Christmas list! I absolutely cannot wait for Christmas Eve! I can't wait to dip into this cheesy goodness!
