Crock Pot Chili

October 31, 2022

Happy Halloween!! It wouldn't be Halloween without a big pot of chili simmering in the crock pot. It's perfect to have before and after trick or treating! We love it!

When I cook ground beef, I always cook several pounds at one time. Then I freeze the cooked ground beef in 1 pound ziploc bags. Doing this makes throwing together dinner in the crock pot a breeze. It is a perfect crisp fall day here. So I loaded up my crock pot with all of the ingredients for chili and put the frozen, cooked ground beef on top to make the easiest dinner ever!

Chili is a perfect dinner for a fall night like this!

Crock Pot Chili

Ingredients:

1 lb cooked ground beef (I used cooked and frozen ground beef from my freezer)

1/2 onion, diced (optional)

2 cloves garlic, minced

14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes

15.5 oz. can kidney beans (do not drain or rinse)

1 to 1 1/2 tsp of kosher salt

3/4 tsp pepper

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp cumin

Fritos

Cheddar cheese, shredded

Sour cream

Optional: diced green onions

  1. Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, onions and garlic to your slow cooker.

  2. Add the salt, pepper, chili powder, paprika and cumin to the tomatoes and beans and stir.

  3. Place the frozen, cooked ground beef on top and place the lid on the slow cooker.

  4. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.

  5. Take the lid off and break up the ground beef.

  6. Stir to combine it well and serve with all of your favorite chili toppings.

After cooking all day, it's ready and so delicious...

This is so perfect for a fall day!

We love to serve our chili on a bed of Fritos. What do you eat with your chili?

Love the idea of precooking and freezing big batches of hamburger for chili, etc...usually my hubs is the chili chef and browns just enough for the one meal - why not kill two birds with one stone?
