Nana's 3 Ingredient Chocolate Mousse

This chocolate mousse recipe has been passed down to me from my great grandmother. We make it every Christmas for dessert and it is a family favorite!


The best part is its simplicity. If you have a bag of chocolate chips, water and eggs, you have everything you need to make this elegant dessert. It is so rich and delicious! Everyone always loves chocolate mousse for dessert and you will love this family recipe! It's perfect for Christmas!


Nana's 3 Ingredient Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients:

12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup water

5 fresh egg yolks, slightly beaten

7 fresh egg whites

Pinch of salt


  1. Melt the chocolate chips and water in a heat proof bowl over simmering water on the stove.

  2. When melted, remove from the heat and beat until smooth. Allow to cool.

  3. When the chocolate mixture is cool, whisk in the egg yolks.

  4. In a mixer, whip the egg whites and salt until stiff peaks start to form.

  5. Fold the chocolate mixture into the egg whites until it is mixed well.

  6. Spoon the chocolate mousse into into your serving dishes.

  7. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate before serving.

  8. Serve chilled.


Note: Please use the freshest of eggs for this recipe.
