Overnight French Toast Casserole
Ingredients:
4 tbsp butter, melted
One loaf of bread, cubed and divided in half
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
6 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Melt the butter into a 9" by 13" casserole dish and make sure that the bottom and sides are covered with butter. Or you could use cooking spray instead.
Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl.
Add a layer of half of the cubed bread.
Sprinkle on half of the brown sugar mixture over top of the bread.
Add the rest of the bread into another layer.
Sprinkle the rest of the brown sugar mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk and vanilla until it is combined well.
Pour the egg mixture evenly over top of the casserole.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate it overnight.
When you would like to bake it, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Take the plastic wrap off and bake in the oven for 35 to 45 minutes, until nice and golden. (If it starts to brown too quickly, just cover lightly with foil.)
Serve warm with maple syrup or powdered sugar.
Please note that this casserole does not have to be made the night before. You can also prepare it and bake it on the same day.
Ready to go into the oven...
And hot and fresh out of the oven...
With a storm hitting most of our country this Christmas weekend, everyone probably already has the milk, eggs and bread needed to make this. You will love it!
This easy French Toast Casserole is the best! Perfect for holidays! Or any day!
