It's October! And it is the perfect time to make this delicious Oktoberfest dinner - Pork Schnitzel!
This meal is my family's most favorite dinner ever! We instantly fell in love with this dish when we were visiting family in Vail and went to a German restaurant there. We loved the Schnitzel, with the Spaetzle and red cabbage. The flavors are amazing together and it is the ultimate comfort food dinner! Since we have no German restaurants where we live, I was determined to learn how to master our favorite dinner at home! Honestly, there is nothing better than this Oktoberfest feast. We love it all year long!
This meal is one that my family is always asking me to make. Since my friends have been asking for this recipe, I wanted to share it with you all again...enjoy!
Pork Schnitzel
Ingredients:
Boneless Pork Chops
Eggs, scrambled
Flour
Bread Crumbs
Butter
Oil
Kosher Salt and pepper to taste
Pound out the pork chops as thin as you can. I like to do this in a ziploc bag to make it less messy.
Fill 3 shallow dishes. One with flour, another with eggs and the third with bread crumbs.
Dip the pounded pork chop into the flour on both sides, then dip into the the egg and lastly into the bread crumbs. Repeat until all of the pork chops are breaded on both sides.
Let the breaded pork chops rest on a cookie sheet for 10 minutes.
In a skillet, add equal parts of oil and butter over medium to medium-high heat.
Add the breaded pork chops to the oil and butter and cook until golden brown on one side.
Flip and cook on the other side until golden brown. Adding more butter and oil if needed.
When both sides golden, and cooked through, remove and put it on a cookie sheet.
Repeat this cooking step until all of your pork chops are cooked.
Keep Schnitzel warm in the oven at 200 degrees until they are all done and you are ready to serve.
Serve with Jager Sauce (a mushroom gravy), Spaetzle(a German pasta) and Red Cabbage. They are a delicious combination!
This German dinner is the ultimate comfort food dinner that you will crave all year long!! It isn't just for Oktoberfest! I will be posting my Jager Sauce and Spaetzel recipes this week for you.
