Prince Edward Island

June 25, 2020

I love the way that food can bring back memories. I just got home from the market. They had PEI mussels on sale and I had to buy them! Just seeing the word "PEI" brought back such fond memories from our road trip up to Prince Edward Island two summers ago.

Prince Edward Island is the smallest province in Canada, located off of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. It is a super quaint island located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and it is accessible by a long bridge or ferry. Prince Edward Island is known for its red sand beaches, fertile farm land and many mussel farms. It is a small island to it is easy to travel across the whole island. We loved it there!

Going to Prince Edward Island has been a bucket list trip for me since 4th grade - when I first read L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables. Her books became my childhood favorite and I always dreamed of visiting Prince Edward Island so that I could see the "haunted woods", beautiful farms and red sand beaches with my own eyes. This trip was a dream come true for me!

I finally got to try the Raspberry Cordial that I read so much about!

And see where Anne lived...

And of course the famous PEI mussels!

We ate so many delicious mussels while we were in Prince Edward Island. I cannot wait to surprise my boys and cook up these PEI mussels for dinner!
