Wow! It's the first day of October. After a week of rain, the sun is finally shining again and it feels like fall is here! The fall season always makes me want to cook up a batch of Crock Pot Applesauce!
This slow cooker applesauce is so easy to make. Plus it makes your house smell incredible! It was always a favorite when I was growing up. It’s total comfort food and it's best when eaten warm. Growing up my family always call it “Send Down Some More Applesauce" because that’s what your cozy stomach will tell you. I can never get enough of it!
It's the best! Since it's apple season you might want to double this batch! Because it freezes great too!
Crock Pot Applesauce
Ingredients:
8 apples
1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Peel all of your apples.
Cut the apple in half and use a melon baller to remove the seeds and cut off the stem and bottom part.
Dice into 1 inch chunks and throw into slow cooker.
Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
Put the lid on and cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 8 hours.
Take the lid off. These apples were super juicy so I removed some liquid and then used an immersion blender to blend the cooked apples. If you don’t have this, just use a potato smasher or even a fork.
Dig right in and enjoy warm!
Note: this recipe freezes SO good. So if you have a ton of apples, double or triple this batch up. Then freeze in plastic containers or ziplock bags.
