The best way to save leftover wine...

March 9, 2021

I know what you are thinking..."leftover wine"?! Is there such a thing?! Kir, are you feeling okay?!

I know, I know! But I am a seasonal wine drinker. Is anyone else like this too? I like white wine in warm weather and red wine in the winter. It is warming up but I still have not made that switch over to white wine just yet. I opened a bottle of white wine to make Shrimp Scampi last night and had a lot left in the bottle. So, rather then letting the wine go to waste, I saved it with this great and easy way! Now I can easily have white wine available for the next recipe that calls for it. Here's how...

How to save leftover wine:

  1. Take your leftover wine and pour it into an ice cube tray. You can do this for red and white wine.

  2. Put the tray into the freezer until the wine has frozen.

  3. Once frozen, take the tray out and break into "wine cubes".

  4. Put the "wine cubes" into a freezer bag and store on the freezer until you have a recipe that calls for white wine (or red).

Please note that two "wine cubes" equals approximately 1/4 cup.

Also these "wine cubes" are a great way to chill white wine in a glass and not dilute it. So great!

Wasn't that easy?! I hate to ever let anything go to waste. This tip makes cooking with wine so easy!! And with no waste. Try it!!
